October/November 2025 Digital Actions

Join Action for Animals Community to complete our monthly Action List for animals!

Using your laptop, tablet or phone, you can take meaningful action through digital activism – helping to build a kinder world for animals, from shutting down factory farms to protecting precious habitats for wildlife.

The actions vary each month, but may include signing petitions, contacting political representatives, making policy submissions, and more.

If you’re in Magandjin/Brisbane, you’re warmly invited to join us in person at Vega Cafe for brunch and digital activism together. Or feel free to complete the actions any time, from wherever you are.

You can find upcoming events and stay in the loop by following us on Facebook and Instagram @a4acommunity.

We need to keep up pressure around this issue, with recent incidents showing how cruel this – to sharks themselves, and also to non-target species such as whales and dolphins. Let’s help Humane World Australia with their email campaign calling on the Qld Government to implement science-based approaches that protect marine animals and swimmer safety.

The Northern Territory already profits from the notorious ‘ejiao’ industry by exporting the skins of slaughtered donkeys to China. Worse still, it is considering starting a live-donkey export trade to China, where donkeys would be met with brutal treatment and a horrific death. Let’s urge Australia’s federal Agriculture Minister Julie Collins to reject any plans to send live donkeys to be slaughtered in China immediately.

We supported Animal Free Science Advocacy's campaign on this disturbing issue back in July, calling on the Animal Ethics Committee which approved the research to revoke approval for future experiments of this kind. We are following up now by with PETA's email urging Monash University, the National Health and Medical Research Council, and Animal Welfare Victoria to prohibit the conduct, funding, and permitting of animal strangulation and brain injury experiments, respectively.

Federal Environment Minister Murray Watt has said he’ll introduce new nature laws by the end of the year. We’ve taken action on this before - emailing our federal MPs late last year through BirdLife Australia’s campaign and again last month using IFAW’s template email to Tanya Plibersek. Let’s keep the pressure on to make them meaningful by signing the Australian Conservation Foundation’s open letter that will be sent to our MPs (some of whom will be new since the 2025...

NSW is the only Australian state that requires rehoming of healthy dogs and cats after use in ‘research’. Even in VIC where the state government agreed to similar reforms in 2022, healthy animals are still routinely killed. Let’s help Beagle Freedom Australia and allies by signing the petitions to our state reps.

The Coalition For The Protection Of Racehorses needs signatures for its petition to stop overbreeding in the horse racing industry. Year-after-year breeding puts unacceptable strain on mares and contributes to the devastating amount of ‘wastage’ in the industry – that is the thousands of foals and ex-racehorses deemed unprofitable every year. While this industry exists, CPR is calling for urgent reforms to give broodmares and their foals a life worth living as horses – not commodities.

It's tough times in the hospitality sector and we've all noticed venues either closing or becoming less vegan friendly, so let's get behind those that are still making vegan food a priority by giving them a positive review, either on Happy Cow, Google, TripAdvisor or a combination of these. This is a quick but important way to support our favourite outlets and keep tasty vegan food on menus – which in turn makes it easier to attract and retain people...
