Review a venue that offers great vegan food

Action type
Other

It's tough times in the hospitality sector and we've all noticed venues either closing or becoming less vegan friendly, so let's get behind those that are still making vegan food a priority by giving them a positive review, either on Happy Cow, Google, TripAdvisor or a combination of these. This is a quick but important way to support our favourite outlets and keep tasty vegan food on menus – which in turn makes it easier to attract and retain people to veganism!

Tips:

  • If you haven't got an account on Happy Cow yet, it's quick and free to create one here, and well worth doing to help fellow vegans and veg-curious people.
  • You need to be logged in to Google and to write a review, too: this doesn't require a gmail address, and we should definitely write reviews here as apparently Google influences customer decisions more than any other review platform.
  • When writing reviews, here are a few things to think about:
    • Including a nice photo or two really helps (there's lots of research confirming this).
    • Platform readership: for HappyCow this will be mostly fellow veg*ns (or their friends and family) wanting to know the usual things: how good was the food, the range, the value, etc. For Google, TripAdvisor etc, where readers will be mostly pre-vegan, we might consider highlighting aspects of quality, value for money and experience over the 'vegan' aspect, depending on the venue.
    • Research is starting to shed useful light on what helps and hinders uptake of vegan dishes, so we could draw on that, too. For some handy ones, check out Dr David Fechner's slides from our 2025 forum, and other further info linked below.
    • Constructive suggestions are always better than criticism, so e.g. if somewhere only has one option, and/or it's not great, let's give them tips about how to expand and/or improve - unless we really don't want them to get any more veg*n customers!
